  1. Thanks man.
But is there a way to share that folder only with a specific computer on the network, rather than any computer that connects to it?
Like, if I give my wifi password to a friend, he's gonna be able to access my shared folder. How can I prevent that while maintaining acces between my two computers?

  3. Hi great tutorial but I have one question, I followed your tute no probs and shared my downloads folder however even though I only shared this d/l folder it has granted access to all of the folders within the Users directory. How do I limit access it to my downloads folder only?

  4. Tons of thanks to you, Windows10 Guru. Now I have the wife's new laptop setup to access the Documents folder on my desktop. Used to know how to do this stuff but I forgot it all! Your tutorial was detailed and perfect. Now, anyone know how the wife can access the folder on my desktop when she's traveling for work??

  5. So unfortunately for me I already had all those settings as shown in your video. It does work for Documents but does NOT work for sharing drives (I turned sharing on and granted Everyone read/write access in settings for the drive). I can see shared drives in explorer but cant access them.

  6. On my wifi I was able to change from public to private. My ethernet is public and there is no way to change it to private. And now the issue of permission and an administrator has arisen.

  7. This is nicely done, with clearly enunciated instructions, so thanks for that – keep up the good work. Unfortunately, although I followed all steps carefully on many occasions, at best all I could get was my PC A being able to see my Documents folder on Laptop B, but not vice versa. Both machines Win 10 64bit with the latest updates installed, and full shut-down/restart after each network settings change on both machines.

I say "at best", since sometimes coming back to previous settings (after trying various combos of settings) would not result in the same "degree of visibility/accessibility" of machine/folders in one or other of the machines as compared with the previous attempt. Most frustrating! – it seems like Windows gets more and more fed up or in a twist, goes in a corner to sulk, and won't come out to play again.

OK, so I've given up on the attempt (3 hours wasted), and will look into OneDrive/Dropbox options. All I want is to share a certain few folders anyways between the two machines, with maybe 100MB total of files.
